I view pop culture as something that invokes an emotional response that is accessible and highly sought after by a majority of the population. Pop culture can be represented by an item, a song, a concept, a movie, or anything that could invoke an emotional response.
In business, it's important to understand pop culture and specifically, what is popular right now. One's business may capitalize from appealing to what is being sought after. If there is a popular song, one could incorporate it into a company's advertisements. If there is a popular movie, one's business could incorporate themes shown in the movie. For example, how many killer clown costumes will we see marketed around Halloween?
For the purpose of this blog, I would like to explore Legos and their place in popular culture. Legos may be more popular than ever. My son and I just viewed the Lego Ninjago movie. While in Florida earlier this year, we visited Legoland. When the new Star Wars movie is released later this year, we'll see aisles in many stores that will be lined with Star Wars-themed Lego sets.
